Grateful
We were driving along the cliffs of Palos Verdes on our way to dinner. The clear sky was a kaleidoscope of color as the sun began to sink toward the ocean.
"Do you want to go to Cheesecake Factory on the water?" my husband, Byron, asked.
"It will be a zoo there," I said.
"I want to go to the zoo," Charli said.
"It's not that kind of zoo, honey. It's a zoo filled with lots of people."
"I want to go to that zoo too." Jordan clapped his hands. Byron grinned.
"Look at this beautiful sky," Byron said.
We all gazed at the setting sun.
"I grew up here and you get to grow up in Palos Verdes too. You won't appreciate this view until you're older."
"No Daddy," Jordan piped up. "I 'preciate it. I 'preciate it."
I took a breath and breathed in the moment.
Life just doesn't get better than this.
January is always a time for reflection on the past year, but more importantly, a time for new beginnings. That sense of anything can happen wells up inside our beings. I'm excited to be able to bring children's stories and fun pictures to you. I 'preciate this opportunity. I am filled with amazement when I watch children and often find myself pondering... THE KID DID WHAT?
